The only real competitor of Lionsgate in the auction battle for the rights to the Terminator franchise will become Sony. Its representatives applied to participate in the auction on the last day of registration of potential buyers, Variety reported. Sony's bid is unknown, but in any case, it should be higher than Lionsgate's bid, which was announced by the current owners as the most preferred.

Recall that the studio offered the Halcyon Group, which owns the rights to Terminator, 15 million dollars in cash and 5 percent of the fees for all full-length movies that will be movieed in the future on the basis of the franchise.

The auction will take place on February 8, and its results will be recorded by federal court two days later.

Halcyon Group bought rights to Terminator for $ 25 million in 2007, hoping to make a new movie and then pay off its creditors. But the painting `` Terminator: May the Savior Come '' failed to meet the expectations of the creators and they were forced to file for bankruptcy.
