The quiet, peaceful, well-oiled life of honest swindlers Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) and his girlfriend Sydney (Amy Adams) spirals out of control and turns into a nightmare, faced with the career ambitions of FBI agent Richard DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). For the sake of promotion, Richie is ready to put the entire American mafia behind bars and up to a bunch of all the corrupt politicians from the power structures.

Why is he staging, with the participation of Irving, his girlfriend Sidney, his wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence), the mayor of Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner), a whole performance, which briskly from the chamber, almost the family production evolves into the show of the century, acquiring details, new characters, risks and binge of his, Richie, inadequate fantasy.

From this almost documentary crime story, David O. Russell made a magnificent juicy vaudeville, saturating the action with such energy, so many vivid nuances, such vivid characters with a thoughtful image from makeup to colloquial speech, such a luxurious background music with an abundance of popular hits of the 1970s that only great and well-deserved directors like Martin Scorsese or Steven Spielberg can do it. The cameo of the actor, beloved by Martin Scorsese, can be perceived as a tribute to love and respect for the Maestro himself.

The movie has 10 nominations for the Oscar 2014; — Best Film, Director, Screenplay, Stage Designer, Costumes, Editing, Quartet of Male and Female Roles; three won Golden Globes 2014 — best comedy movie, Best Lead and Supporting Actress in a Comedy (Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, respectively), 2014 Actors Guild Award for Best Performance by a Cast. I would like to wish in advance all the nominees good luck on March 2 at the Oscar ceremony — they are reckless, incendiary, unexpected, talented and simply `` overflow the shores '', playing unusual types and using new colors for this. A little bit of chaos does not harm the movie, on the contrary, it adds fun.

The cast, from stars to extras, is truly amazing. It is now fashionable to radically experiment with your appearance for a new role. Christian Bale is one of those who do it with passion and seems to be easy, shedding and gaining pounds and muscle mass. But here he surpassed himself, because the growing of the abdomen was not enough, his Rosenfeld is noticeably sweating, continuously covers his bald head with a strand, straightens his glasses and at times goes into shortness of breath. Apart from the fantasy genre, no one else has had such a complex hairstyle except for Jared Leto in Lonely Hearts.

Handsome Cooper, keeping his polished gentleman style, has learned to wind his hair on papillotes and plays a parody of the alpha male. Amy Adams, a quiet intellectual, turned into a walking temptation with a constant neckline at the waist. Jennifer Lawrence is still a sex bomb, but also a bad housewife and a `` psychological swindler '' who reads smart articles in gloss to motivate her men and keep them on a short leash. Jeremy Renner, after all his heroic action characters, moved to the next weight category and plays the sedate, balanced godfather of the city.

Great extras. gambling bosses of the gambling business — black tuxedos and butterflies at the bar are reminiscent of 30s-50s Hollywood. Particularly glamorous is Jack Houston, the third generation of the Houston dynasty, with elegant black mustaches and stylish haircut — embodied gangster style, nod to Once Upon a Time in America, Club Cotton and even Dick Tracy. There is not a single positively heroic character in the picture, but there is so much charm and soul in these insidious and cynical swindlers.

Last year's movie About Russell's My Boyfriend crazy '' did not pass unnoticed and was also done with a fair amount of humor, but the new work against his background is more stylish, powerful, explosive, impudent and at the same time sincere, warm, enveloping. It should be noted that this year, to all almost sensational movies, even dramas, you can add the definition of comedy — everything is like in life, laughter and tears mixed (`` The Wolf of Wall Street '', `` August ''). Our crime story in moments does not look like a plot about corruption, but like a romantic comedy with a very complicated relationship between the heroes.

`` American Scam '' — enchanting show for multiple viewing. As real swindlers the director, actors,
