Snow-covered mountains in India. The unnamed hero Keanu Reeves, whether a geologist or just a climber, climbs a steep cliff. Snow falls less often, and here on the slope a ball is visible, not much higher than a person. As if crystal or ice outside, inside – like a funnel endlessly trying to swallow the sky. Reeves' spellbound hero breaks through the shell ball. After a while, he loses consciousness. Opening his eyes, he no longer sees the ball, only an oval scar on the back of his hand. The time of the event is 1928.

That person hardly survived to this day. Therefore, none of the modern scientists knows this story about the mysterious sphere. One of this scientific constellation – Dr. Helen Benson. She is a lecturer at New York University. Her special theme is – the possibility of the existence of life on other planets. It is not known how on Mars, but on Earth there are many problems with the fact of life. A year ago, Helen lost her husband, now she is raising her son, who considers himself abandoned, living with her stepmother, although she loves him.

But these are domestic problems, there are also common human problems.

When a huge sphere lands in the middle of the central park, the military and scientists are raised to their ears. A strange creature appears in front of them – like a person wrapped in a placenta. Following him, a robot of incredible size emerges from the luminous Ball: it acts only when aggression is shown towards him or towards his humanoid counterpart. An alien needs a little less than ten hours to take the form of a human - and ndash; the appearance of Keanu Rizva, whose first character at the beginning of the century, as it turns out, had DNA taken. New Keanu's name is Klaatu – he came to cleanse the Earth of the virus – from a person.

Military – creatures turned in one direction, responding with aggression to the unknown. So when the US Secretary of War is about to inject Klaatu with drugs so that he speaks `` honestly '', he calmly looks at her and says: `` Will you speak to me on behalf of all mankind? '' - the following answer begs: `` Why not? ''.

Thanks to Helen, Klaatu escapes from the research center. He is in the human body, so he feels pain, but he is an alien – therefore, its capabilities and strength are many times greater than human ones. Having launched the process of destroying the planet, Klaatu gradually begins to change his point of view regarding the fate of the world's population. Maybe people are worthy of life? A good example of their love and kindness in Helen and her son. Although the child repeats for most of the movie that the father would have shot the alien, this does not stop Reeves with a smile from watching the boy hug his mother and ask her for forgiveness.

'Give us a chance' - several requests, more and more abundantly filled with tears. While the cities are being erased from the surface of the Earth by the robot, Klaatu goes to his sphere – ship. To the point – in which he will make the final decision.

Reeves, as an actor with a dramatic biography, can afford to participate in such frankly educational and humanistic movies. He has lost loved ones more than once, and now he is ready to say goodbye to the entire population of the planet, as if being depressed and seeing all the black sides of him. And the population – selfish, rude, aggression people who hide their fears – can only look at the alien and say, “We can get better. Just let us come to a crisis, to the brink, so that we can begin to evolve. '' This is not the strongest argument for Klaatu, but he is willing to take it into consideration. So far there is a chance to survive …
