Ron Howard to direct a Mormon thriller
Just a day after Universal's decision to shut down Ron Howard's Dark Tower project, the director found a new job. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Howard is movieing for Warner Bros. the novel Under the Banner of Heaven. The plot of the book is built around two representatives of the extremist wing of the Mormon church, who commit ritual killings "at the behest of heaven." The movie, released in 2003, also explores the reasons for the popularity of the Mormon church and the conditions for the development of religious fanaticism.
