Review of the movie The Unstoppable. An aging classic

Someone please remind Stallone what year he lives now. At the same time, you can acquaint him with the modern cinema scene, the repertoire of an average cinema, trends and popular genre trends. Finally, just subtly hinting that those who honestly declare their semi-respectful, half-joking attitude to the brutal retro `` The Expendables '' – it's cool, and a daring attempt to repeat this most retro – not. With all due respect to the eminent actor, he lost not so much a sense of time as a sense of tact. So it turned out `` Unstoppable '' – hefty hello, either from the 90s, or even from the 70s, causing, on the one hand, bewilderment, on the other – compassion.

Let's leave the original translation of the title forever, absorbing all the commercialism of the world, at the mercy of conscience, the universe and a sense of beauty. Let them deal with our wonderful translators themselves. Let's try to figure out why exactly `` Unstoppable '' slightly missed – for twenty years – with the year of release. See for yourself: a story about the adventures of a killer and a cop, companions against their will, who together arrange an apocalypse for all enemies with home delivery, and all because throwing – not good, especially when killing consumables, but otherwise – good people. There are also evil capitalists, who turn out to be the main villains, the crazed Most Main Villain and the sexy daughter of the killer, who ends the movie as the cop's wife (oh, this is probably a spoiler?). Plus shooting, scuffle, strong phrases – and all this in a quest format. Sound familiar? Sorry for the rhetorical question.

No, don't get it wrong, "Unstoppable" – the movie, in general, is not bad, even more than that – good. For pictures of this genre and category, it is cut surprisingly well. Perfectly even pace of the storytelling – no scenes `` sag '', no brute force in certain sections of the movie, shortage – on others. Everything is consistent, the conflict is growing in the right spiral, not letting you get bored. A bit feverish, but still pleasant – and surprisingly 'loud' – A scuffle with skirmishes pleases both eyes and ears. Delicious, effective, and most importantly – stable, so you are not afraid that now they will pull the rubber for half the movie, and in the second, the brain will not keep up with the eyeballs.

Jason Momoa in the role of an evil and young copy of Stallone, showed himself well. Although he had to play a little here – type does not suffer from novelty, non-standard behavior, and just a character rich in details and nuances. But it looks impressive, acts menacingly and never strays from the rhythm, and more from him is not needed. In general, it seems that everyone on the set was continuously working to the music that set the general pace. So that without any distortions, and the result is not long in coming - – it remains only to miss them, if, of course, there is a desire and mood. Except, perhaps, only one.

Of course, Sylvester Stallone himself showed himself, God forbid, but most of the self-irony – which is already a little bit – threatened himself with his beloved, the whole movie did not get tired of repeating how old, old-fashioned he had become, and like jokes about Asians - primarily those who do not know how to drive a car – obsolete and no longer in use. At the same time, in the movie, he feels clearly comfortable. A hardened human being, distributing headshots to the right and to the left (discharging half a clip into each unfortunate unit) and pouring out ready-made quotes, simultaneously promising to `` kill them all '', and more than once. But he was greedy with humor, he took everything for himself.

Well, and Sang Keng, obviously having a special love for classic action movies, in the role of a surprisingly stubborn and, sorry for being rude, disgusting detective. It is thanks to this character that, somewhere in the middle of the movie, the final realization comes that `` Unstoppable '', albeit a roller, is painted in tones not only of old school, but also of noir. Because the bad ones are here – everyone, someone from the point of view of the law, someone – if we consider the situation, as they say, simply `` humanly ''. So a bullet in the head none of them would hurt.

"The Expendables" – could be an enjoyable movie. It is pleasant – everything is measured and predictable, sedate and not boring. Alas, it is simply unrealistic to get rid of the feeling that you have returned to the past. If it were not for the modern cell phone of one of the main characters (besides, the second one, guess who has an old one, with an antenna), one would think that such little time machines were installed at the entrance to the hall, or the movie itself was dug up in one of the Hollywood warehouses, and it was reasonably decided, what good was it to disappear? It's a shame that such a solid movie was so late. So questions arise, like `` for whom was all this movieed? '' There are not so many loyal fans in the world, and everyone else somehow …

And suddenly it becomes scary for the return of another Hero this month.
