Timur Bekmambetov will shoot a new version of Moby Dick
Universal Pictures has instructed USA director Timur Bekmambetov to reimagine the famous Moby Dick on the screen Herman Melville. As Variety clarifies, adhering to the main storyline, Bekmambetov will have to abandon some key elements of the original source. For example, the movie will not have a first-person narration, which the seaman Ishmael is in the book, and Captain Ahab himself will turn from an obsessed with the desire to kill the big wolf whale, into a sober and charismatic leader, who only strives to stop the atrocities of the sea monster. The painting, as has already become customary for Bekmambetov's works, will be decorated with a large number of special effects. The script is entrusted to Adam Cooper and Bill Collage.
