The fire at the Portsmouth Miniatures Studio, which was supposed to be used during the work on the Hobbit dilogy, was a damaged charger and battery. According to Sky News, these are the preliminary results of an investigation carried out by fire service specialists. It is noted that the powerful battery was subjected to mechanical stress, the nature of which has yet to be determined. It was also found that the studio premises were not even equipped with basic fire-prevention systems: smoke and temperature sensors, as well as automatic fire extinguishing devices. With such systems, the damage to the building would be significantly less.
