"Toy Story" is a rare, and perhaps the only example of a long-running series, which during its entire existence not only has not lost its popularity, but every time manages to keep the bar, or even raise it altogether. This was the case, in particular, with the third "Story", presented in 2010. It became the first animated movie to gross over a billion dollars at the box office and won two Academy Awards at once. And now, almost a quarter of a century after the premiere of the first cartoon, the fourth is released, which is definitely not inferior to its eminent predecessors.
The only truly significant difference between Toy Story 4 is that it ( in terms of terminology understood by the generation of comic book adaptations), a kind of " albeit the most high-tech. And Woody, with his characteristic readiness for self-sacrifice, realizes this and tries to remind this simple truth ... to us, adult viewers. A significant part of the funny moments of the cartoon is also connected with Wilkins.
New opponents will appear, as usual, pursuing their goals. But if in the third part Woody and his friends have to enter into an open confrontation with a toy "mafia" led by a teddy bear, then in the fourth, faced with a similar problem, Woody is ready to sacrifice absolutely everything to convince his opponents that they are worthy of affection and friendship.
And of course, the meeting with the lost lover announced at the stage of creation as the culmination of Woody's personal genesis. Which in the end and completely changes his fate, and determines the ending. A bit sad, but bright and full of hope, as it should be in childhood.
Toy Story 4 has everything that, in principle, was the essence of this grandiose project by Pixar studio. It is only partially about children and their daily routine, their joys and fears. It is about adults, the way they should be in relation to children, other adults and to themselves, finally. About the fact that no matter how life develops, you need to try to keep a piece of the magical world in yourself, in which kindness, loyalty, compassion and willingness to help reign.
"Toy Story 4" is brilliant the finale of a quarter-century journey. Yes, and do not rush to get up from your seats with the first credits.
