Some of True Detectives fans were unable to watch the final episode of the show on Sunday, March 9, 2014 via HBO Go's streaming service. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the service crashed due to a huge number of requests.

A fairly impressive number of viewers who signed up for the streaming service saw an error message indicating that the service was not loading. It remains unclear how many users were affected.

The drama ended with a final episode airing on Sunday, March 9th. The show featuring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson received positive reviews from critics and audiences. McConaughey has repeatedly stated that he will not be returning for the second season of the series.
