Sir Ian McKellen, who starred in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Gandalf the Gray regrets that there are too few female characters in the picture. The actor's statement was posted on his official website.

“The only thing missing in Middle-earth was the heroines. This is unfortunate, as female gnomes would be very funny, '' says the actor.

He also revealed one of the secrets of the director's cut of The Hobbit. Viewers will see Bilbo's mother “the famous Belladonna Took.”

McKellen also explained that movieing the episode of the White Council meeting took place in several stages. So, 91-year-old Christopher Lee could not come to New Zealand, so he was movieed at home,
