British radio station BBC Radio 3 conducted a poll to rank the best soundtracks in movie history. The Star Wars overture took first place. The music, created by John Williams, finished by a wide margin, collecting more than 25 percent of the votes. The soundtrack of the western Good, Bad, Ugly, written by Ennio Morricone, took the second place, and the third place went to the music of Leonard Bernstein from the movie `` West Side Story.
