20th Century Fox refused to shoot a new version of the famous science fiction movie The Fly, as it had no plans to return to this project. This opinion was expressed in an interview with The Playlist by the creator of the original picture, David Cronenberg.

“They rejected the idea as soon as I presented them with a draft script. It wasn't even a remake, but rather a sequel or even a spin-off. None of the heroes of the first movie would return, and all events would be interpreted from the point of view of modern scientific knowledge and technology, '' said the director.

Cronenberg suggested that the estimated budget of the movie was to blame, and stressed that disappointed that he was unable to present the audience with a new look at the already classic story.

Recall what a fly was released in 1986. In the center of the plot is a brilliant scientist who mastered the technology of teleportation, but during a key test an error occurred that led to dire consequences.
