The Vatican did not support Russell Crowe's desire to meet the Pope ahead of the premiere of Noah. This was reported by The Hollywood Reportre.
It was not about a personal audience, but about the presence of the actor in St. Peter's Square during the traditional meeting of the pontiff with believers, during which Crowe hoped to greet the Pope in person.
However, representatives of the Holy See told Paramount studio that the presence of the actor in the square is undesirable, as his fame may cause unnecessary excitement.
Recall that the actor himself had previously addressed the Pope via his Twitter and invited the pontiff to watch the movie Noah.
The movie will premiere in USA on March 27, 2014.
