The Chinese authorities denied the movie Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky, for a distribution license. According to The Hollywood Reporter, citing its source, the ban was imposed because of the religious content of the picture.

"Noah" was supposed to be released in China in May 2014, moreover, it was supposed to be released outside the established quota limiting the number of foreign movie projects.

Recall that the movie was previously banned from showing in many Muslim countries. Despite all these limitations, at the time of this writing, the movie's worldwide box office has exceeded $ 300 million, making it the most successful project in Aronofsky's career.
