Jurors delivered their verdict in the mass murder trial of the audience at the premiere of The Dark Knight 2: The Legend Rises by James Holmes.

According to Variety, he was found guilty of 12 first-degree murders, committed with particular cynicism, as well as 70 attempted murders. The accused is said to have shown no emotion during the reading of the verdict, which lasted about an hour. Previously, his defense insisted on Holmes' innocence in connection with a serious mental illness, which began to progress for many years before the dramatic events of July 20, 2012.

On July 22, 2015, the court must begin the announcement of the verdict. James Holmes faces the death penalty or life imprisonment.

Recall that the crime was committed in the city of Aurora, Colorado. Holmes, armed with automatic weapons, entered the auditorium through the service entrance during the evening session and opened random fire on those present. 12 people were killed on the spot, several dozen received wounds of varying severity. Arriving on a call alongside the police managed to neutralize the criminal when he went outside to change weapons.
