The creation of the movie "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" required from Joss Whedon not only professional skill, but also firmness, since some episodes of the picture had to be defended in disputes with the leadership of Marvel. The director himself spoke about this in an interview with Empire.

In particular, he planned to introduce the new Spider-Man and Captain Marvel in Age of Ultron, but at the time of movieing completion Sony Pictures and Marvel had not yet agreed on all the details of their contract.

According to Whedon, his opponents in Marvel were against the inclusion in the movie of an episode in which Hawkeye visits his family on a farm, as well as scenes depicting visions of the main characters. At the same time, the studio's management insisted on keeping the episode of Eric and Thor in the cave in the movie.

"This is what actually happened to the cave: figuratively speaking, they put a gun to the head of the episode with the farm and said:" Give us the cave, and we will let you keep the farm. "Of course, everything was in a civilized form. I respect these guys , they are real masters of their craft, but at that moment, as a director, it was not very pleasant for me, "he said.

Whedon also explained that the scene in the cave was originally much longer, but during the test screenings, the audience did not like it, and it was decided to shorten it. At some point, the studio demanded to completely cut it from the rolling version. “I was so annoyed with all this that I even told them:“ Okay, what kind of movie are you talking about at all, ”the director added.

At the time of this writing, the movie has grossed over $ 600 million worldwide.
