HBO continues to collaborate with the creator of the miniseries "Looking for a Hero" David Simon and commissioned the production of his new TV project, the porn drama "Two". The number of episodes and the date of the premiere have not yet been determined at the time of writing. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal, tells the story of the legalization and subsequent expansion of the porn industry in Times Square in New York since the early 70s and until the mid 80s. The drama will show the troubled world that existed in Manhattan before the outbreak of HIV and cocaine lawlessness.

The screenplay is co-written by Simon and his longtime colleague, writer George Pelecanus ("The Wire"), and Richard Price ("Color of money"). Nina Noble (The Wire) will executive produce with Michelle McLaren (Breaking Bad), who directed the pilot. Further, McLaren will not be involved as a director. In addition to their acting duties, Franco and Gyllenhaal are producers of the series.

The series "The Two", named after 42nd Street, was inspired by the careers of the twin brothers, important players in the world of Times Square, who served as a "roof "for a dangerous and lucrative sex industry from its very beginnings. Franco will play both brothers, Vincent and Frankie Martino. Gyllenhall will play Eileen Murrell or "Candy," a Times Square prostitute with an entrepreneurial streak.

The cast includes Gary Carr, Margarita Levieva, Larry Gilliard Jr.,
