The fate of Director Krennik, who led the construction of the Death Star in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, could have turned out very differently than was shown in the rental version. According to The Wrap, the scriptwriter of the project Gary Witt told about this.

Instead of being killed in an explosion caused by the blast from the battle station he created, Krennic could have died at the hands of Darth Vader. According to the scriptwriter, in one of the scenarios, Krennic is far enough from the epicenter to survive, and he is found under the rubble of the Empire assault team.

The directors are brought aboard Vader's personal battleship, where the latter, in his usual manner, kills his subordinate for the failure of the operation. However, in the end, it was decided to refuse movieing this scene.

Note that the episode of Vader's fight with the rebels in the cramped corridors of their ship, so much liked by Star Wars fans, was movieed after the completion of all work at the suggestion of screenwriter Tony Gilroy.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first spin-off of the famous space saga, was released in December 2016. During the rental period, he earned more than one billion dollars, confirming the high level of audience interest in the project, in which there is not a single Jedi. The role of Krenik was played by actor Ben Mendelssohn.
