The New Line movie studio has given up hopes of reviving the once popular "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise. According to the Tracking Board, a plan is ripening in its depths to create another remake of the cult horror movie.

The project does not yet have a director and production team, but a scriptwriter is already available. This function will be performed by David Johnson, whose asset is the work on the script for the movie "The Conjuring 2: Poltergeist at Anfield", as well as the series "The Walking Dead".

It is not yet known whether Platinum Dunes, which produced the 2010 remake, will be involved in the project. Let us remind you that although this version paid off in the world box office, it did not cause much delight among fans of the original horror movie.

The latter was presented to the audience in 1984. The role of the burnt maniac from nightmares with blades on the glove was played by Robert Englund. Later, the actor returned to the image that made him famous in seven sequels, including one crossover.

The timing of work on the new story of Freddy Krueger has not yet been specified, and the possible rental schedule of the movie is also unknown. Representatives of the New Line studio have so far refrained from commenting on this topic.
