The Audience Network has commissioned the production of a ten-episode drama "Mr. Mercedes" based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. The novel is being adapted by multiple Emmy Award-winning screenwriter and producer David E. Kelly. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Brendan Gleason and Anton Yelchin will star in the Sonar Entertainment project. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2018 on DirecTV and AT & T Uverse.

Mister Mercedes follows a mad killer who bombards a retired detective with creepy letters and emails, forcing the latter to forget about his retirement and start your own and potentially illegal crusade, to stop the killer before he commits another atrocity. Gleason will play detective Bill Hodges, and Yelchin will play; Brady Hartsfield, a freaky truck driver and IT clerk at Cyber Patrol who is actually a Mercedes-Benz killer.

The Edgar Award-winning book was published in June 2014 and is the first novel trilogy. The second part, "Who Found It, Takes It For Himself" was published a year ago, in June 2015. The final novel, End of the Watch, hits store shelves on June 7, 2016.

Kelly will write the script for the first episode and take over the duties of showrunner. Jack Bender, who starred in Under the Dome, based on King's novel, has been directed.
