Ash vs. Evil Dead cast in lead roles
Ray Santiago (Meet the Fockers) and Dan DeLorenzo (The Family Guide) will star in Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead, a sequel to the acclaimed Evil Dead horror franchise. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Bruce Campbell, star of three original movies, will return to the titular role of Ash, a supermarket clerk in the household goods department, an aging ladies' man and a chainsaw-armed monster hunter who has lived for thirty years avoiding the responsibility, growing up and horrors of the sinister dead. When the plague of deadites is ready to destroy all of humanity, Ash, gathers will in a fist to finally meet face to face with the demons – own and literal. Fate, however, does not plan to let the unpromising hero out of his tenacious embrace. In the ten-episode television project, Santiago will play the idealistic immigrant Pablo Simon Bolivar, who becomes Ash's bosom friend, a kind of Sancho Panza under Don Quixote. Pablo believes in Ash's heroism, even if Ash himself doubts its existence. DeLorenzo is cast as Kelly Maxwell, a capricious, wayward girl trying to escape her past. By chance, drawn into the fight against Evil, Kelly finds a kind of family in the person of Ash and Pablo. Production of the series, which is scheduled to premiere in late 2015, will begin in the spring in New Zealand. Sam Raimi will direct the pilot, which he co-wrote with his brother, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezaley.
