FOX hasn't given up on plans to relaunch or continue the cult television series Firefly. According to the publication ComicBook, this information was confirmed by one of the heads of the studio, David Madden.

The only prerequisite, according to him, is the participation in the project of its author - Joss Whedon. Otherwise, the studio won't even try to breathe new life into Firefly.

Recall that the series was broadcast in 2002-2003. Its action took place in the distant future, and in the center of the plot is a group of smugglers, moving in outer space on a ship called Serenity. Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudik, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel State, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Ron Glass, Christina Hendrix and other actors played the key roles in the series.

Despite the fact that only one season was movieed, the creators of the TV project decided to continue the story in a full-length movie under "Mission" Serenity, which was presented to the audience in 2005.

A movie with a very modest by the standards of a sci-fi genre budget of $ 39 million failed at the box office, earning only $ 38 million, which, however, did not affect the cult status of the entire project.
