Roskomnadzor has threatened to block the popular gaming service Steam. As stated in a message on the official page of the department in the social network "VKontakte", the reason was "the dissemination of information about drugs."
In this regard, one of the service community pages was included in the register of prohibited sites. Officials demand its removal and admit that they have not received a response from the Steam administration to numerous requests directed to various email addresses.
"It would be a shame if so many gamers lose their favorite entertainment," the message says. According to Roskomnador's calculations, in 2013 the number of active accounts on Steam reached 75 million.
Recall that the digital software distribution service Steam belongs to the American company Valve. With its help, users can activate and download games of both the company itself and its partners.
Valve plans to expand the range of services provided by the service. In the coming years, users will be able to download not only games, but also music and movies. In 2013, the Linux-based operating system SteamOS was also announced. It will allow you to run games on TV screens.
