David Tennant to play the Purple Man
Former Doctor Who Time Lord British actor David Tennant has been confirmed to co-star in the upcoming Netflix series Known as Jessica Jones. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter with reference to Marvel. In the center of the plot of the upcoming drama, the production of which Netflix ordered, bypassing the pilot stage, – one of the heroines of the Marvel Universe, Jessica Jones. The streaming service will release at least four Marvel superhero series, each with thirteen episodes. The series will begin airing in 2015, after which their main characters will unite in one common mini-series "The Defenders". Her heroine, Jessica Jones, after a series of tragic failures, decides to hide her suit in the closet and opens her own detective agency in New York, where she helps both ordinary people and other superheroes. "Twilight" writer Melissa Rosenberg is the executive producer of the series. Tennant will play the villainous Killgrave, a mysterious figure from Jessica's past whose reappearance will threaten the former superhero's world. In the Marvel Universe, Killgrave, also known as the Purple Man, made his debut in the fourth issue of the Daredevil comic in October 1964. He is an international spy who, since the 2000s, has become an enemy of Jones and her husband, Luke Cage, who will be portrayed by Mike Colter in the Netflix series. For Tennant, being on the show means continuing to collaborate with American television networks.
