During the "white nights", the Palace Square of St. Petersburg will turn into an open-air cinema. As part of the Petersburg Holidays festival, which will be held in the northern capital from June 16 to June 19, 2016, a movie marathon of Soviet and USA movies, a concert of the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra will take place here, and compositions written by Eduard Artemyev for USA movies will be performed. This was announced in an official press release received by the editorial staff of the "Novosti Kino" portal.

The movie marathon program will be divided into three thematic blocks: "Petersburg History" (movies directly related to St. Petersburg will be included), "Heroes and Characters" and "The Golden Age of Children's Cinema" (adaptations of children's fairy tales and books that are no longer popular one generation of young viewers). The concert of the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra and Chorus, which will take place as part of the festival, will be timed to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the birth of composer Sergei Prokofiev.
