Netflix Announces Thirteen Reasons Why Premiere Date

Streaming service Netflix has announced the premiere date for the teen drama "13 Reasons Why," based on Jay Escher's 2007 bestselling book of the same name. The show's executive producer, Selena Gomez, broke the news on her Instagram page and posted concept art containing the tagline, "If you're listening, you're late." So, the thirteen-episode series will premiere for all Netflix subscribers on March 31, 2017.

In the series produced by Paramount Television, teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) returns home after school and finds a box with his name on the doorstep. Inside, he discovers tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), a classmate of his and the girl who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah explains on the tapes, that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to die. Is Clay one of these reasons? If he listens to all the tapes, he will figure out how he got on the list. Kate Walsh, Brian D'Arcy James, Derek Luke, Brandon Flynn, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Justin Prentice and Tommy Dorfman also star in the drama.

"Thirteen Reasons Why" was directed by Oscar-winning director Thomas McCarthy, scripted by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Prize winner Brian Yorkie.
