The number of restarts on TV doesn't seem to be going down. ABC, Robbing the Loot creator John Rogers and producer Eva Longoria (John Wick) will join forces to work on the sequel to Private Detective Magnum, starring Tom Selleck. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a potential sequel to "Magnum" will revolve around the legendary detective's daughter.

The series, commissioned to write, is described as an action-drama in the style of the original show. The spotlight is on Magnum's daughter Lily "Tommy" Magnum, who returns to Hawaii to take over her father's firm.

Rogers will write and executive produce with Jennifer Curt, Longoria and Ben Spector. Universal Television owns the rights to the series.

Private Investigator Magnum was created by Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson in 1980 and ran for eight seasons on CBS. Magnum's daughter has featured in four episodes. After the alleged death of her mother and stepfather, Lily was reunited with her biological father.

Tom Selleck was nominated for the Golden Globe seven times, winning in 1985.
