The movie "Francophonie", which was shot by the famous USA director Alexander Sokurov, will participate in the main competitive program of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. This is reported on the official website of the Biennale.

The tape, which, by the author's own admission, is "an artistic and historical study using documentary and game methods", is dedicated to the rescue of the masterpieces of art stored in the Louvre during the Second World War. The movie was financed exclusively by European investors from France, Germany and the Netherlands. Sokurov himself is confident that his work will not interest USA viewers, since there is no request in his country to rethink the events of the war from the point of view of "humanitarian experience".

Recall that Sokurov has already been awarded the highest awards at the Venice Film Festival. So, in 2011 his painting "Faust" was awarded the "Golden Lion", and a little later she was awarded several USA awards "Nika", including in the category "Best Film".

The 72nd Venice International Film Festival will take place from 2 to 12 September 2015.
