Arnold Schwarzenegger's production project "Pump", in which he will play one of the main roles, is beginning to take shape. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the bodybuilding screenplay that was acquired by Showtime in 2013 is now being developed by CBS Television Studios.

The eight-episode drama will trace the origins of the modern fitness and bodybuilding culture through a premise on a thousand square feet on Pacific Avenue: a gym called "Pump" ("Pump" is a version of the site "Movie News"). The series is set in the early 1970s in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, California, where Schwarzenegger began his career as a bodybuilder.

Erik and Kim Tennenbaum (2.5 People) will be executive producers; Schwrarzenegger and Michael Convis (The Last Knights), who created the series; as well as Randall Emmett and George Ferle (Everest).

Brian Goluboff (Blue Bloods) has joined the project as executive producer and showrunner.

The television network for the series is not yet found, Schwarzenegger's agency CAA will sell the rights to broadcast the project in the US.

Schwarzenegger originally sold the rights to the series in 2013 to Showtime, then the project passed to Hulu, but never became a series.

"From our first" brainstorming "I knew" Pump "was going to be a hit. The 70s were a bright time in which there were changes for me, all over our country, and I can't wait to share it with the audience. Today we take gyms and fitness for granted, but back then it all started with a group of dedicated bodybuilders in a small basement gym on Venice Beach.
