Critics of leading publications writing about cinema have smashed the movie "Ben-Hur", which was shot in Hollywood by USA director Timur Bekmambetov. At the time of this writing, it has a rating of only 33 percent on the professional review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

"In the era of the Hunger Games and modern computer graphics, scale is no longer as impressive as it once was," writes Associated Press reviewer Sandy Cohen.

"The new movie adaptation of Wallace's epic has a fascinating story, but is completely unable to tell it to others," - echoes the author of Comingsoon.

"And what have we got after six decades? A new take on Ben Hur, more noble, apathetic and castrated than Sunday school in South Dakota," says Entertainment Weekly author Joe McGovern.

"What were they thinking about?" Asks The Hollywood Reporter's reviewer Todd McCarthy. "This Ben-Hur" could simply be called "Was here. Did it, "writes Washington Post author Michael Sullivan.

The movie stars Jack Houston, Nazanin Boniadi, Haluk Bilginer, Johan Philip Asbek, Marwan Kenzari, Rodrigo Santoro, Moises Arias, Yasen Ator, David Walmsley, Toby Kebbell and other actors.
