Amazon is developing a TV version of the Renegades
Warner Bros. TV and Plan B Entertainment will team up with screenwriter Jason Richman to develop a drama series for the Amazon streaming service based on Martin Scorsese's hit movie The Departed. This is reported by Variety. Richman ("The Lucky Seven") will write the script for the pilot and share executive producer duties with Roy Lee, Michael Connolly, Graham King, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Sarah Esberg, Trip Vinson , Doug Davison and Gianni Nunnari. Vertigo Entertainment and Initial Entertainment Group will also co-produce. The TV version focuses on a young policeman who infiltrates a Latin American gang in Chicago and tries to track down a "rat" in his own police unit. Like the feature movie, the series is based on the 2002 Hong Kong crime thriller "Castling Double". Recall that Scorsese's 2006 movie starred Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg. The movie has won four Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Directing, Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay. Wahlberg was nominated for a supporting role.
