Marvel Entertainment and streaming service Hulu have announced the launch of Runaways, a series based on the popular eponymous comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alfona. Gossip Girl co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have been appointed executive producers of a series about a group of six teenagers who discover that their parents are part of a supervillain squad. Young people who cannot stand each other are forced to unite to confront a common enemy: their parents. This is reported by ComingSoon.

"We've always known that Runaways are the best fit for the television format," Marvel Television CEO Jeff Loeb said in a statement. “We're very lucky to have Josh and Stephanie, Nico Minoru (daughter of wizards), Caroline Dean (daughter of alien invaders), Molly Hayes (daughter of mutants), Chase Stein (son of mad scientists), Alex Wilder (son of mafia bosses) and Gertrude Yorks (daughter of time-traveling criminals). The group was later joined by a genetically engineered 87th century Old Lace dinosaur, however it is unclear at this stage if it will appear on the series.

Marvel Studios has already attempted to direct the feature movie "Runaways" from a script by Drew Pearce ( "Iron Man 3").
