The first two of the eight episodes of the new series "Young Pope" directed by Paolo Sorrentino will be screened during the Venice Film Festival. This is reported by the Deadline edition.

Episodes of the series will be shown to the guests of the festival on September 3, 2016 at the Cinema Palace on the island of Lido. The co-production of "Young Pope" by Paolo Sorrentino ("The Great Beauty") has been curated by Sky, HBO and Canal Plu. The drama is scheduled to premiere in October. The show will be broadcast by Sky Atlantic in Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland and Austria, and Canal Plu – in France. The series will air on HBO in the United States.

The series is set today, and the focus is on the manipulative first American pontiff, Lenny Belardo, Pope Pius XIII (Jude Law). Belardo's election might appear to be the result of a simple and effective media campaign by the College of Cardinals. But appearances can be deceiving. In the Vatican, the mysterious and intractable Pius XIII can be both shrewd and naive, old-fashioned and very modern, doubting and determined, ridiculous, pedantic, insulted and ruthless. Overcoming the path alone in search of God for all mankind, he is looking for him and for himself.

In addition to Lowe, Diane Keaton, James Cromwell, Ludivine Sagnier, Silvio Orlando, Scott Shepherd, Cecile De France, Javier are involved in the series Camara and Tony Bertorell.
