HBO has acquired the rights to broadcast in the US and Canada of the new BBC television project "Cormoran Strike". The limited-episode series is based on J.K. Rowling published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Rumors that HBO would acquire the rights to the project surfaced as soon as BBC One announced it would begin operations in fall 2015. The two television networks already have recent experience of cooperation – HBO aired the miniseries The Accidental Vacancy, which is also an adaptation of Rowling's work of the same name. This is reported by the publication Deadline.

The main role in "Cormoran Strike" is played by British actor Tom Burke, who recently starred in the TV series "The Musketeers" and "War and Peace". "Cormoran Strike" is a series consisting of three independent chapters on three novels – three hours for The Call of the Cuckoo, two hours for the Silkworm and two hours for The Career of Evil. Filming will begin this fall in London.

The main character of the series, Cormoran Strike (Burke), a war veteran, has founded a tiny detective agency in London on Denmark Street. Trauma survivor Strike's unique talent and education help trauma survivor Strike solve three difficult cases that eluded police attention.

The Cuckoo Call, which kicked off the series, was published in 2013 and has become a bestseller. A year later there was a sequel - "Silkworm", and a year later - "Silkworm" third novel – "Career Evil". All three books have a circulation of over four million.
