Divergent Star Will Play John F. Kennedy
The star of the movies "Divergent" and "The Fault in the Stars" Ansel Elgort will play the role of John F. Kennedy in the biographical drama "Mayday 109". According to the Deadline edition, the movie will focus on the little-known pages of the biography of the future president, namely, his service in the US Navy during World War II. Kennedy was the captain of the RT-109 torpedo boat, served in the Solomon Islands. During one of the night battles with the Japanese squadron, an enemy destroyer literally cut Kennedy's boat in half. Having received a serious back injury, the future president managed to organize the evacuation of the surviving crew members. Within five hours, they swam to the nearest shore, and one of the wounded sailors, John F. Kennedy, kept afloat all this time. As a result, they ended up on the island, where a week later they were picked up by a New Zealand boat. For this and other exploits, Kennedy has received numerous awards, including the Purple Heart. Many leading US publications wrote about the case with the RT-109 torpedo boat. The timing of work on the picture and its possible rental schedule have not yet been specified.
