Christina Hendrix stars in Hap and Leonard
Mad Men star Christina Hendrix has joined the cast of Sundance TV drama "Hap and Leonard". This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the Joe R. Lansdale book series, the six-episode series follows two best friends and martial artists - Hap Collins (James Purefoy, "The Followers") and Leonard Payne (Michael C. Williams, Boardwalk Empire), who struggle to stay on the side of the law in East Texas in 1980. Hendrix will play Hap's ex-wife, Trudy, who appears two years later with an offer he could not refuse. Fun and shocking at the same time, the drama offers an outside perspective on race and class issues, as well as friendship. The upcoming series follows Joan Harris in Mad Men, which earned Hendrix five Emmy nominations. Hendrix will remain in the AMC family, participating in the SundanceTV project, owned by AMC Networks and overseen by AMC President Charlie Collier. Collier and Hendrix have a long-standing relationship. "Hap and Leonard" will premiere in 2016. The script was written by Jim Meekl and Nick Damici, who directed the 2014 thriller based on Lansdale's July Cold.
