Shondaland, a television content production company owned by writer and producer Shonda Rhimes, begins work on an as-yet-untitled drama about a Bronx monastery. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on a script by Alison Schapker (Brothers and Sisters, Fringe), the series follows a group of Catholic nuns fighting the closure of their Bronx nunnery. The nuns encounter three new novices, whose arrival at the monastery opens the veil over long-buried secrets. The series will make you think about everything that is included in the concept of "the bride of Christ". Shapker will share executive producer duties with Rhimes and Betsy Bierce ("Scandal").

Shondaland has been involved in the production of such popular TV series as Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and How to Avoid Punishment for Murder. At the time of this writing, a new judicial thriller "The Catch" with Mireille Inos in the title role is in production. In addition, the company is collaborating with Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins (Trophy Wife) on the divorce comedy Splitsville. All of the above series are broadcast on ABC.
