Godzilla moviemaker Gareth Edwards has no further collaboration with Legendary and Warner Bros. Studios. and will not work on a second episode. The publication Deadline reports this with reference to its sources.

The reason for Edwards' refusal to shoot "Godzilla 2" is not specified, it is only stated that the parties "parted on friendly terms," and the studio management hopes that in the future the director will take part in some of their projects.

Recall that in mid-May 2016, Warner Bros. announced the postponement of the premiere of "Godzilla 2" to a later date. Instead of June 8, 2018, as originally planned, the picture will be presented to viewers on March 22, 2019. The reason for the change in the rental schedule was not reported.

Note also that Legendary and Warner Bros. plan to further bring together in one movie two popular monsters - the Japanese lizard and King Kong. Their co-production, Godzilla vs. King Kong, will be released on May 29, 2020.

As for Edwards, in December 2016, viewers will be able to see his new movie - a spin-off of "Star Wars" entitled "Rogue One. Star Wars: Stories." His future plans were not specified.
