The writer E.L. James, the author of a literary phenomenon called Fifty Shades of Gray, demanded full control over the sequel's adaptation. This is reported by the Variety edition.

It is alleged that the author insists on negotiations with the management of Universal Pictures on the fact that she herself will prepare the script for the future picture. Kelly Marcel, screenwriter for the first movie, will not return to the project, nor will director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Note that the interview after the release of the movie "Fifty Shades of Gray" the director complained about the constant interference of the writer in the creative process. Representatives of the Universal studio have so far declined to comment on this matter.

Recall that "Fifty Shades of Gray" set several records at once, including the best start in February, the best result for Valentine's Day and the best result for President's Day. The picture, without any doubt, will retain its leadership in the second weekend, ahead of all debutants.

The movie stars Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford, Marcia Gay Harden, Max Martini, Rachel Skarsten and other actors.

The release date of the sequel was not known at the time of this writing.
