BBC One has commissioned the production of a drama series based on Philip Pullman's fantasy trilogy Dark Beginnings. Polly Hill and Charlotte Moore will curate the TV project from BBC and BBC One. The production, which will take place in Wales, will be handled by Bad Wolf and New Line Cinema. This is reported by ComingSoon.

The BBC said in a statement: "It is an honor to movie Philip Pullman's outstanding novels on BBC One. Dark Principles is a stunning trilogy for all ages."

The Dark Beginnings trilogy includes three novels: The Northern Lights, The Miracle Knife, and The Amber Telescope. In the "Northern Lights" there is an acquaintance with an orphan named Lyra, who lives in a parallel universe in which science is intertwined, theology and magic. Leeroy's search for her kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister conspiracy involving the kidnapped children and turns into an investigation of a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. In The Miraculous Knife, Lyra meets the boy Will, the owner of a knife that can cut windows between worlds. As Lyra learns the truth about her parents and the fate that was prophesied to her, she and Will get involved in a war against divine forces waged by many worlds. These events are described in the third novel – "Amber telescope".

"It was always pleasant for me to watch how the trilogy turns into a radio show, then into a play, into a movie, an audiobook, a graphic novel, and now it's the turn of a series," he commented on the news Pullman.
