Sony Pictures and MRC decided to revive the project of the movie adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower", which was in a state of "lethargic sleep". This is reported by the publication Deadline.

It is argued that the old concept has been retained: feature movies will be linked by a television series. Sony is in charge of the theatrical version and MRC is in charge of its TV sequel. Ron Howard, who previously participated in the project as a director, will limit himself to producing functions with the help of his studio Imagine Entertainment. The cast has not been confirmed at the time of this writing.

Note that talk about working on a comprehensive movie adaptation of "The Dark Tower" has been going on for many years. Initially, the Universal studio planned to deal with the project, then it was "inherited" by Warner Bros. After many delays, the project was finally frozen in 2012.

Recall that the movie adaptation will be based on a series of novels, consisting of seven books, on which King worked for about 30 years.

The main character of the series is Roland Descene, a wandering knight who travels the world in search of the Dark Tower , a mythical place that keeps all worlds from destruction and chaos.
