Popular American singer Rihanna has joined the cast of Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, based on the popular graphic novel. In the story, special agent Valerian and his red-haired girlfriend are sent to the planet Sirte, which is the capital of the union, which includes thousands of worlds. They discover a decadent empire, a decayed aristocracy, revolutionary sentiments, and a strange caste of masked sages who seem to be the real puppeteers of the world. The novella was published in 1967 and translated into two dozen languages. Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne agreed to play the main roles. Also starring in the movie is Clive Owen, whose character has not yet been named. Filming is due to start in late autumn 2015 with an eye on the premiere in 2017.
