The original movie, directed by John Woo, was about the confrontation between FBI agent Sean Archer and a criminal and the terrorist Castor Troy. After the latter is caught, Archer agrees to a complex operation, as a result of which he takes on the appearance of Troy and ends up in prison to find out from the criminal's accomplices where a powerful explosive device is. The situation is complicated by the fact that Troy himself wakes up in the hospital and forces surgeons to give him the appearance of Archer.
