Suicide Squad creator David Ayer has decided on the next directorial project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he intends to shoot a new version of the famous 1967 war drama called The Dirty Dozen.

In the original movie, the action took place during the Second World War before the Allied landings in Normandy. In the center of the plot is a group of convicted criminals, whom the US command instructs to carry out an almost impossible mission - to get to the Nazi officials deep in the rear. Those recidivists who complete the task and manage to return alive will be forgiven.

The main roles were played by Lee Marvin, Donald Sutherland, Charles Bronson, Dick Miller, John Cassavetes, Richard Jackel, George Kennedy and other actors.

It is argued that, unlike the 60s movie, the remake will take place in our time. It is noteworthy that, when starting work on Suicide Squad, Ayer just claimed that he intended to draw inspiration from The Dirty Dozen.

The Warner Bros. studio intends to fund the director's new project. Terms of work and rental schedule have not yet been specified.
