ABC is ending production of its hit series Grey's Anatomy. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the 21st episode of the sixteenth season, which is due out on April 9, 2020, will be the last. It was planned to shoot 25 episodes in total.
The medical drama has become another "victim" of the coronavirus and the restrictive measures taken in North America. It is worth noting that the show was previously announced for a 17th season, but now the realism of these plans is in great doubt.
As a reminder, Grey's Anatomy is one of several shows that donated medical equipment local hospitals, as well as providing emergency personnel with essential items such as face masks and gowns.
The series debuted in 2005. The main role in it was played by Ellen Pompeo, who over the years of the show has become one of the highest paid actresses of modern television. Grey's Anatomy has won many of the most prestigious professional awards, including the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globe Awards.
