Comcast does not intend to raise rates in the fight against Walle Disney for the possession of assets of 21st Century Fox. This is reported by CNBC with reference to its sources in the company.
Instead, Comcast will focus its resources on the acquisition of the British television network Sky, which is 39 percent owned by Fox. The latter had previously offered $ 32.5 billion for the remainder of the network, while Comcast tried to outbid that bid by putting forward its $ 34 billion offer. It is this confrontation in the near future that will be the focus of Comcast's management.
Recall that the company tried to compete with Walt Disney, promising the owners of 21st Century Fox $ 65 billion instead of the $ 52 initially offered by Walt Disney. In response, the latter raised its bid to $ 71 billion.
The merger is not expected to be challenged by US government regulatory agencies. The 21st Century Fox shareholders meeting is due to take place in July 2018, during which the terms of the deal will be put to a vote.
Comcast representatives have not yet commented on this information.
