MGM studio owners are negotiating a sale

The famous Hollywood studio MGM may change owners in the foreseeable future. As reported by CNBC, the management of MGM has already held a series of negotiations with potential buyers, including such companies as Apple, Netflix and others.

Recall that the current owners of the studio are investment funds Anchorage Capital, Highland Capital and Solus Alternative Asset Management - acquired MGM, then on the brink of bankruptcy, in 2010. As a result of the effective use of the studio's richest library, its financial condition has improved significantly. The asset is valued at $ 10 billion.

MGM owns such popular franchises as Robocop and Rocky, and together with EON Productions, it is one of the co-owners of the rights to Bond. Despite the fact that the studio was formed in the mid-20s of the last century, a significant part of the movies released by it belong to other companies, in particular, Turner Entertainment.

Note that in recent years there has been a global redistribution of the market. Tech giants like Apple, Amazon, AT&T are investing heavily in creating their own content or acquiring content producers.
