Warner Bros. Film Studio forced work on the development of the Aquaman universe, but in a slightly different direction than her fans expected. According to The Hollywood Reporter, instead of a direct sequel, the studio is launching a spin-off dedicated to the inhabitants and creatures of the Hollow.
The script for the movie is entrusted to newcomers Noah Gardner and Aiden Fitzgerald. Aquaman director James Wan will be producing the project. Its budget is expected to be significantly less than that of the base movie, which was estimated at $ 160 million.
Note that the Hollow and its terrifying inhabitants appeared in the Aquaman comics relatively recently - in 2011. According to mythology, they were once part of the kingdom of Atlantis, but after the flooding of the latter, they were cut off from the rest of the survivors and mutated into underwater monsters.
In the movie with the tentative title "Hollow", none of the heroes of "Aquaman" will appear. The timing of production and a possible rental schedule for the movie has not yet been specified, but most likely, viewers will be able to evaluate the spin-off no earlier than 2021.
Recall also that earlier James Wang himself said that he would like to return to less large-scale projects.
