Warner Bros. Film Studio intends to launch into production a new version of the legendary action movie with the participation of Bruce Lee, called "Rise of the Dragon." Deadline reports that Deadpool 2 creator David Leitch has been appointed director.
The original movie tells the story of a martial arts tournament hosted by an influential businessman on a secluded island. Intelligence agencies suspect him of drug dealing. They are forced to seek help from the Shaolin monk Li, who is also invited to take part in the competition of the best masters.
Jackie Chan, John Saxon, Bolo Yeng, and other actors starred in the movie. It was the first exclusively Hollywood martial arts project created in collaboration with Lee's studio. He had a huge impact on the entire genre and is now considered a classic.
Unfortunately, Bruce Lee himself did not witness the success of the movie, he died before it was released. Warner Bros. Studio I tried to re-shoot "Exit of the Dragon", but so far it has not been possible.
The timing of work on the new version has not yet been specified. At the time of this writing, the production team is looking for a writer.
