Some additional details of the plot of the movie "Train to Busan 2: Peninsula", which will be the sequel to the acclaimed South Korean thriller about the zombie apocalypse, have become known. Director Yong Sang-ho shared his vision with Screen Daily correspondents.
"The action takes place four years after the events of the first part and in the same universe. But it will be a completely different story and different characters. structures are completely destroyed in Korea, and absolutely everything has changed except the location. That is why the sequel was named "Peninsula", - he commented.
According to the director, the territory of Korea has been turned by other countries into a kind of ghetto in an attempt prevent the spread of the epidemic. The main character is a soldier, who once managed to escape from the peninsula, but now he is tasked to return and discovers that some people managed to survive in the quarantine zone.
The production budget for the sequel is estimated at $ 16 million, that is, it is more than the budget of the first movie in two times. The release is scheduled for August 2020, of course, if the fight against coronavirus does not make its adjustments.
